KICKOFF TO THE SEASON. It’s officially football season and the VHHS football boys are starting it off with a bang! Coming off a successful season last year with an impressive 8-3 record, the Valley Heights Mustangs are ready to take the field. This strong performance last year has set the stage for an exciting new season as they face off against the Centralia Panthers. Senior Mack Shanks is very confident that they will overcome the Panthers this Friday. This is a game they all are hungry for. The Mustangs haven’t beat Centralia since 2016, and their time has come. “This is my first time playing as a quarterback since my sophomore year and we have a lot of new bodies on the field. Our biggest challenge was probably learning how to work together as a team,” says Shanks.
The senior players have really taken control this season and have been preparing the rest of the team for not only this season but for the rest of their football careers.
The number of fans in the crowd at sporting events can be extremely impactful on not only the players, but also the game’s outcome. New addition to the team, Julian Crook says,“When the stands are full, it does make me nervous but it also gives me the confidence to perform better.” So be sure to come support the Mustangs and watch them kickoff the season. The home game will be starting at 7:00 PM and will be ending as soon as the Mustangs finish victorious and take home the win!
