BOO! Halloween, celebrated on October 31st, traces back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, marking the end of the harvest and the beginning of winter. Among the Celtics, it was believed that on this night the dead merged with the living, allowing spirits to roam. Today, Halloween is one of the most popular holidays in the United States, with Americans spending an estimated $10 billion annually on costumes, decorations, and candy. Students love engaging in fun Halloween activities, such as costume parades, pumpkin carving, and attending fall festivals. At Valley Heights, Halloween is a bit different this year, however, this is not stopping them from celebrating the holiday. The volleyball team is traveling to Dodge City today to compete in the 2A State Tournament. Assistant coach, Amy Spoonts, has made plans for the girls to go trick-or-treating this evening before they take the court tomorrow.

Senior Cayden Dummermuth says, “We need as much support as we can get because without the community we won’t be able to make it as far as we can go.”
