REMEMBER ME. El Dia De Los Muertos, or better known as the Day of the Dead it is a Mexican holiday where families welcome back the souls of their loved ones who have passed away. It is the one time of the year that deceased relatives come back for a brief dinner and celebration to honor their lives.
This tradition says that upon dying, a person was to travel to Chicunamictlan, the land of the dead. They would have to face nine difficult challenges, a journey that takes several years. When the person finally completed the challenges, they could reach Mictlan, the final resting place. Offerings are given providing the deceased family member food, water, and tools to aid them through their journey.
A movie that displays this holiday in a beautiful way is "Coco," despite his family’s generation-old ban on music, Miguel, a 12 year old boy wishes to be like his idol Ernesto de la cruz. Desperate to prove his talent, he finds himself in the stunning and colorful land of the dead. After meeting Hector, an all time musician, the two friends embark on a journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.
This special holiday was October 28th to November 2nd. El Dia De Los Muertos is all about welcoming your deceased family members back for a night.
