HAIL, KING OF SCOTLAND. The day before Thanksgiving break Mrs. Yungeberg's Senior English classes read and performed scenes from Macbeth, a play written by William Shakespeare. Each group performed their Macbeth scenes in the commons with an audience of the student body and teachers. Senior Lilly Busey said, “Performing the Macbeth scenes was fun, because even though it was for a grade we got to be creative and put our own little twists on it.” Mrs. Yungeberg stated that in the past she had juniors reading and performing Macbeth but had to switch it up because of class scheduling, and now the senior classes have been doing it for the last four years.
Cayden Dummermuth, senior says, “I was nervous to perform but ended up having a good time doing it.” When asking Mrs. Yungeberg what her favorite part about having her students perform different Macbeth scenes is she said, “I like to see how the students get creative and put their own spin on the story.” Performing these scenes is a exciting and unconventional way of digging deeper into the curriculum that is enjoyed by students and staff on and off stage.
