SPRING INTO ACTION. Spring sports have started at VHHS! The athletes have been practicing and working to improve from last season. As the weather gets warmer, everyone is excited to see what these sports bring in the next two months.
Golf has a good number with 15 people out. Junior, Ella Swearingen says, “My goal for this golf season is to step out of my comfort zone and attend more meets. I would also like to get better at using my irons. Practices have been good because the weather has been so nice.” The track team is starting off strong with 28 people out. Sophomore Everson Parker says, “I love practices because you get to work on your events with your friends. State Track is something that I’m really working toward this year and I think our 4x4 has a really good shot. We have to continue to work and grow to reach all of our goals.”
Softball and baseball were new sports at Valley Heights last year. Both teams had a great first year and are excited to keep it going. The softball team has 13 girls this season. Senior Tessa Miller says, “I’m really excited to keep seeing the growth that we have from last year to this year. One of our team's goals is to keep our errors per game lower than last year.” Senior Cayden Dummermuth says, “I’m most excited to just get to play my senior year. We look really good so far considering we only have 13 boys out. You can already see the improvement from the first few practices.”
Spring is a busy time for everyone. The athletes are ready to make new personal records, achieve team goals, and compete outside in the nice weather.
