WICHITA BOUND. Kansas State Education reports in 2015, 749 schools implemented MTSS “Multi-Tier System of Supports”. Valley Heights Schools implemented MTSS programs in 2014. The program focuses on helping schools use their own resources to help each individual child become successful.        

Five student ambassadors from the Valley Heights Junior Class including multiple USD 498 staff participated in the MTSS Symposium Wednesday September 13th in Wichita. The purpose of the MTSS conference was to help further the skills and knowledge of the program to teachers and administrators across the state.

After presenting Project Respect to TASN “Technical Assistance Network” at a school board meeting last spring. TASN offered the opportunity to present at the Fall MTSS Symposium.  Brady Trimble, Carter Popejoy, Rosa Blaske, Hannah Musil, Maddie Walsh and Supervisor Ms. Gee presented their newly created non-profit organization to Administrators, Teachers and Superintendents from across the state of Kansas. The club focuses on bringing back forgotten morals for a better tomorrow. “It went really well, i'm excited for the future of Project Respect”, says Walsh when asked how the presentation went.  Future Project Respect plans include hosting a color run later this fall. “We've come a long way in just 8 months, it's been a rollercoaster ride for sure”.
