KAY MEMBERS SERVE! SERVE! SERVE!

The Kansas Association for Youth “KAY” is a character building, leadership training, service organization directed by KSHSAA. This organization provides students with an opportunity to learn their citizenship responsibilities and to enhance their personalities through well organized programs. These programs focus on the four areas of service: school, community, nation, and the world.

Each year KAY club has a different theme, last years theme was “Lights, Camera, Action.”  The Lights were focusing on the service the club members did for there community; Camera was focusing in on the club as the whole and Action was focusing on what the club was doing to be involved in service projects. This year’s theme is Set Sail and Lead-yer-ship. the Set Sail in this years theme is persuading the members to get involved. Then Lead-yer-ship is focusing on leadership skills.

Every year in December, a week is chosen as KAY Citizenship Week, this week is a time to reflect on the history of the KAY program. This time coincides with when the organization started in 1946. Each day in citizenship week has a specific meaning to dedicate to different services including; Monday- Serve my School, Tuesday- Serve my Nation, Wednesday- Serve my Club, Thursday- Serve my World, and Friday- Serve my Community.  “Being KAY president has already been such a great privilege for me, I enjoy getting to see all of our members participate in these service activities and look forward to new ones ahead of us.” said Rosa Blaske Jr.
