DANCIN’ THE NIGHT AWAY. On February 3rd, Valley Heights students and their dates from surrounding schools enjoyed a dance hosted by the KAY (Kansas Association for Youth) Club. The Winter Formal Festivities began Friday night at the basketball game against Mission Valley where the Winter Royalty was crowned. The queen candidates included Brandi Dobrovolny, Skyler Saunders, and Nicole Weyer. The king candidates were Alex Hardin, Landon Woodyard, and Jordan Yungeberg. The crowned king and queen were Nicole and Jordan. “I was surprised and honored to be chosen as the queen,” says Nicole Weyer. The Mustangs finished the night with two varsity wins against Mission Valley.
To begin the festivities the next day, KAY members decorated the high school commons with a “Great Gatsby” theme filled with gold and black to make the dance special for all who attended. “It was only my second dance as a high schooler, but I really had a fun time with friends and I loved the theme,” says Freshmen, McKenzie Joseph. The dance kicked off with the first dance by the Winter Royalty and then others joined. Students spent the night taking pictures with friends in the photo booth, dancing, chatting, and enjoying snacks. The dance gave an opportunity to students to get dressed up and enjoy fun times with their friends and peers.
