It's much more than just Teacher Appreciation Week to me. I have something very important to say about the amazing humans in this picture. In the past nine months I've gotten to know and build a relationship with each and every one of them, and I have the privilege of seeing what those outside of our walls rarely have the opportunity to. The past year has presented challenges that no amount of professional development or college courses could have prepared them for. Yet from day one they have rolled through the changes, embraced the challenges and put our students and their needs before anything else. I've seen them laugh, cry, celebrate and mourn for the students in their care. When confronted with adversity and obstacles they could easily have chosen to grow complacent and bitter, but instead they utilized the opportunity to grow, to learn and to do better. That is exactly what I've witnessed in my short time in USD 498, and I am so proud of these amazing humans. Each of them have a significant role in the success of our students, and each of them deserve much more than a paragraph or two once a year. I'm humbled and blessed by their presence, and I firmly believe that our district is one to be envied because of the individuals within it. The future of Valley Heights is bright folks, and you have every reason to be #MustangProud!
